Question:Why did you join GMP?
Answer:I had been interested in the Police Force as a possible career option for some time and whilst I was at university I began to look into the idea more closely by contacting a variety of people who would give me a different perspective. These perspectives allowed me to see the possibilities and opportunities that the police would offer me in terms of both my own personal development and on a professional level. I wanted to have the opportunity to pursue a career which could offer me the opportunity to experience as much variety as possible. It was also quite important for me to feel that my job would benefit others. The police service provided the ideal opportunity for me to fulfil both these criteria. Further to this I hoped the accelerated promotion scheme would allow me to use the potential I had identified within myself to my own advantage as well as the service's.

Question:Does the job meet your expectations?
Answer:I think like any new job my expectations have been surpassed in some respects and in other areas I think my expectations may have been somewhat unrealistic and any career would have struggled to meet them. Overall however, my experience in the police has been a positive one. I have had a lot of support from my colleagues and supervisory officers.

Question:What do your friends and family think of your job?
Answer:My family are also proud of my achievements, however, they are naturally concerned because of the different situations I face within my day to day work. They also want me to be able to achieve my full potential and hope the service will allow me to do that. Sometimes I have to provide them with reassurance that I will continue to be challenged by the police which is only natural.

Question:What are you future aspirations?
Answer:I think like any new job my expectations have been surpassed in some respects and in other areas I think my expectations may have been somewhat unrealistic and any career would have struggled to meet them. Overall however, my experience in the police has been a positive one. I have had a lot of support from my colleagues and supervisory officers.

Question:What is the high point of your career?
Answer:It's incredibly difficult to identify a highlight within my career as I feel there have been a lot of highlights on different levels of experience. Professionally I would have to say being accepted onto the APSG (Advanced Promotion Scheme for Graduates) was a highlight as it identified positive development points within myself which I was able to build upon as well as giving me the opportunity to attend training courses outside GMP which I would otherwise not have had the opportunity to do.
